Professional Earwax Removal
Earwax is a natural and beneficial occurrence, but sometimes buildup can cause blockage, inhibiting your hearing. Instead of reaching for a cotton swab, reach out to Associated Hearing. We can help you safely and effectively remove the excess of wax you’re experiencing.
Earwax is a subject we don’t always like to discuss. It has a reputation for being unseemly or gross, but the fact of the matter is that, in general, earwax is good for you.
It’s true! Earwax (also known as cerumen) can act as a protective layer in your ear canals, preventing them from becoming dry, itchy, and scaly, and even preventing infections from occurring. It also acts as a trap for dirt and other debris so that it can’t travel deeper into the ear canal.
As a society, we treat earwax as something that is dirty, something that we need to remove from our bodies with products like cotton swabs or ear candles. The latter is dangerous (we repeat, ear candles are not safe for use) and the former can remove the protective layer from your ears that they need to stay healthy while also pushing wax deeper into the ear canal, creating a blockage that can inhibit you from hearing your best.
Another thing about earwax is that we all produce it a little differently, some more than others.
If you’re someone who produces an excessive amount of earwax, or you’re afraid that you might be experiencing blockage caused by earwax, we can help you by providing safe and effective removal of your excess cerumen.
We’ll safely and comfortably remove the excess wax through the use of an irrigator, with the intent of providing you with relief from any discomfort, pain, or even hearing loss that you might be experiencing due to excess buildup.
Most patients walk away feeling better than ever, and with a deeper understanding and appreciation for how cerumen actually helps the body stay healthy. Interested in learning more? Give us a call! We’d be proud to serve you.
